You can’t promote a film about someone’s dark secret and say what that dark secret is. That dark secret is the pull of intrigue and mystery. Therefore, when it came time to cut the trailer, I built the trailer around that dark secret. Before prayer, I had really wanted to include the dancing scene because dancing is such a unique aspect of the film. After praying about what to include in the trailer, several scenes flooded my mind. I ended up cutting it to begin with the dancing scene. I decided that the tagline, which is a line from the film, should be used in the trailer. Although, given its use in a certain scene in the film, I froze the dancing scene and inserted the audio into it there instead. Following that short spurt, I included various scenes that would contain underlying music used during the aforementioned dancing scene. The scenes really emphasized the struggle of what she was going through, while excluding what her secret actually was. In fact, the trailer is bookended with one of the opening scenes in which Victoria is talking with Zac at the coffee shop. At the end of trailer, Victoria suggests the reason Zac is talking to her is because he’s new to town, to which he responds “Why? Is something wrong with you?” Then the clip fades to the title “Consecrated.” This hidden secret creates curiosity. And it is that curiosity that will drive audiences to see the film.
